Dubai's Nol card is moving beyond transport. A new Nol-Jaywan card will combine Metro, bus, taxi and parking payments with everyday shopping and online purchases. Khaleej Times says the pilot begins this November, with smartphone features and more than 120 promotional offers planned. Public launch dates and card prices are still to be confirmed.
The details
Dubai will begin piloting a new generation of Nol-Jaywan cards during November 2026, bringing public transport and everyday digital payments together.
The Roads and Transport Authority announced the project on 4 November following an agreement with Al Etihad Payments, a subsidiary of the Central Bank of the UAE.
The new card combines Dubai's existing Nol transport payment system with Jaywan, the UAE's national payment card scheme.
The project aims to allow a single card to serve several purposes.
Users will be able to make transport-related payments, including Metro and bus fares, taxi journeys and public parking, while accessing wider payment services through Jaywan.
The card is also intended to support purchases at participating outlets, online transactions and other payment services.
Digital activation and smartphone access through Android and iOS devices are among the planned features.
RTA has announced more than 120 promotional offers and exclusive discounts associated with the card.
The rollout will take place in phases, beginning with a pilot in November.
However, the announcement does not establish when cards will become generally available, whether existing Nol cards must be replaced, or how much the new cards will cost.
The final list of participating retailers and detailed eligibility arrangements has not been announced.
Until the new service is introduced more widely, commuters should continue using the existing Nol system.
