Dubai's delivery bikes are getting cameras and smart monitors to track speeding, harsh braking and dangerous riding. The system is voluntary until 30 June 2027, then mandatory for operators, according to WAM. Delivery companies will receive riding data to help improve safety.
The details
Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority is introducing a smart monitoring system for delivery motorcycles to improve road safety and strengthen oversight of the delivery sector.
The system combines connected monitoring devices, cameras installed on motorcycles and a digital platform that analyses riding behaviour.
It will record information such as speed, sudden acceleration, harsh braking, routes and location.
The data will help authorities identify unsafe practices and allow delivery companies to review individual and fleet performance.
Operators will be able to use the information for rider training, safety awareness and operational improvements.
Installation and connection to the platform will remain voluntary until 30 June 2027.
After this transition period, participation will become mandatory for delivery companies covered by the requirements.
RTA says the system has been developed in coordination with Dubai Police and other relevant authorities.
The initiative comes as delivery motorcycles become increasingly common on Dubai's roads, particularly around residential neighbourhoods, restaurants and commercial areas.
