The details

Dubai Police have issued 48,950 traffic fines for driving vehicles with expired registration during the first ten months of 2026.

The figures were announced on 1 November as part of a road-safety reminder urging motorists to keep registrations, insurance and vehicle inspections up to date.

Under the applicable traffic regulations, driving a vehicle with expired registration carries a Dh500 fine, four traffic points and seven days of vehicle impoundment.

January recorded the highest number of violations, with 6,977 cases. February followed with 6,768 and March with 6,573.

The police stressed that the consequences extend beyond financial penalties.

Regular vehicle inspections can detect faults affecting brakes, tyres, lights and steering systems. Driving a vehicle without the required inspections could leave potentially dangerous mechanical problems undetected.

Motorists whose insurance has also expired may face additional financial and legal consequences if they are involved in an accident.

Dubai Police encouraged vehicle owners to use official online and smart services to check outstanding fines, renew registrations and complete the required procedures.

For motorists, the reminder is straightforward: check both registration and insurance expiry dates, arrange the necessary technical inspection and complete renewal before driving with expired documents.
