The details

Abu Dhabi has announced a Dh872 million infrastructure project to improve road connections between Ramhan Island, Jubail Island and Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed International Road (E12).

The project will involve seven bridges, three tunnels and a network of connecting roads and ramps.

Covering approximately 166,000 square metres, it is designed to improve access to developing communities and strengthen connectivity with the capital's existing road infrastructure.

The announced completion target is 2027.

The project also includes sustainability measures, with approximately 90 per cent of construction waste expected to be recycled, equivalent to more than 2,200 tonnes. Energy-efficient LED lighting will be installed.

For existing and future residents of the islands, improved road access could make commuting and everyday journeys more convenient.

However, the announced benefits are projected outcomes of the infrastructure development, not changes already delivered to motorists.
