The details

The Emirates Drug Establishment and Dubai Health Authority have issued notices recalling Babies' Magic Tea Baby Sleep Gripe Water following concerns about undeclared alcohol content.

The product, also marketed as Children's Sleep Gripe Water, is promoted for relieving colic, gas and sleep difficulties in infants.

Testing associated with a recall by the US Food and Drug Administration identified ethanol, methanol and isopropanol that were not declared on the product label.

The affected lot, identified in recall reporting as 25122bw, contained approximately 8.3 per cent ethanol, 0.35 per cent methanol and 0.48 per cent isopropanol.

The substances may cause drowsiness, nausea, vomiting and other adverse effects. Higher exposure poses more serious risks, particularly for infants.

UAE authorities also cited the absence of valid marketing authorisation.

Parents and caregivers have been advised to stop using the affected product, avoid purchasing it and seek a refund or dispose of it safely. Anyone concerned about a child's exposure should seek medical advice promptly.
