The details

Abu Dhabi Biobank and Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi have launched an oncology collaboration focused on collecting and preserving cancer-related samples for research. The collaboration involves patients from Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s Fatima bint Mubarak Center.

The Biobank, a strategic initiative between the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi and M42, says its infrastructure in Masdar City can store up to five million pan-human samples linked to health data. The partnership is intended to support deeper research into cancer and the development of more personalised approaches to treatment.

The resident relevance is long term: the collaboration strengthens local research capacity and may support future improvements in diagnosis and treatment. It should not be presented as an immediate change to every patient’s care pathway.
