The details
The Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority, working with the Abu Dhabi Real Estate Centre, has launched the “My Home is Safe” initiative to promote household safety among families receiving new homes.
The programme was introduced alongside the handover of residential units in the Al Mizn Neighbourhood and Al Samha Housing Project. It targets parents, children and domestic workers and is designed to make basic prevention and emergency response part of the move-in process.
Participants receive theoretical and practical training covering first aid, domestic accident prevention, kitchen and electrical fires, the use of fire extinguishers and smoke detectors, and the preparation of a home evacuation plan. The programme also includes child-safety guidance, accredited completion certificates and first-aid kits. Homes are equipped with fire extinguishers.
The initiative currently focuses on beneficiaries receiving homes through the named Abu Dhabi housing projects. Its wider significance is that it treats household safety as an everyday preparedness issue rather than something addressed only after an accident or emergency.
