Dubai opened Mobility Labs to test autonomous and future-mobility technologies across 248 scenarios. The facility is intended to test systems before wider deployment on the emirate’s roads and transport network.
The details
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority inaugurated Dubai Mobility Labs in September to test autonomous and future-mobility technologies.
The facility is designed to support testing across 248 scenarios, allowing authorities and technology partners to examine how autonomous vehicles and related systems perform in controlled conditions before broader deployment.
The initiative forms part of Dubai’s preparation for future mobility services, including autonomous transport. Testing may cover operational performance, safety, interaction with existing roads and public transport, and the experience of residents and other road users.
The opening does not mean that all autonomous transport services are already available to the public. It is a testing and readiness step intended to support future regulatory and operational decisions.
