The details

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority completed a two-kilometre widening project on Sheikh Zayed Road in August. The project added a lane for traffic travelling from Abu Dhabi towards the World Trade Centre intersection, near Burj Khalifa/Dubai Mall Metro Station.

The road now has seven lanes instead of six along the affected section, increasing capacity by 17%. RTA said the improvement could reduce journey times by up to 10% during peak periods.

The corridor serves Dubai World Trade Centre, DIFC, the Museum of the Future, Al Karama, Al Jafiliya and Al Mankhool. It is used by commuters travelling between residential and commercial districts as well as by visitors attending exhibitions and events.

The project forms part of a wider series of traffic improvements along Sheikh Zayed Road and nearby corridors.
