Dubai added 364 truck-parking spaces at seven rest stops, increasing total capacity to 1,007 spaces. The expansion is intended to reduce random roadside parking and improve safety for drivers and other road users.
The details
Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority added 364 parking spaces at seven truck rest stops in July, increasing the total capacity at those locations to 1,007 spaces.
The new spaces were distributed across Al Rowaiyah 2, Lehbab 1 and 2, Al Tayy, Al Rowaiyah 1 and Madinat Hind 2. A further 60 spaces were being added at Nad Al Hamar.
RTA said the rest stops provide designated locations for trucks during movement restrictions and help reduce roadside parking in residential, industrial and urban areas. Facilities include accommodation, restaurants, retail outlets, fuel stations and heavy-vehicle maintenance services.
The authority said more than 150,000 trucks use Dubai’s rest stops each month. The expansion is intended to support freight movement while reducing fatigue-related risks and improving traffic flow.
